It’s Allway’s Something

Posted in It's Life, Trail Running, Ultrarunning on May 29, 2010 by ultrarunnerbrianphilpot

You allway’s have to wonder when everything is going good, that something bad must be coming. My ultramarathon training has been going good, but not great! And that’s because their’s allway’s something to get in the way. My mother has had a heart attack and now need’s heart bypass surgery! So it’s been a long week and the next will not be any better! It’s all part of life, we never know what will come.

We just need to live for today, like we will die tomorrow!
I hope everyone has a great holiday weekend! RUN HARD!!

A Muddy and Humid Sunday Run

Posted in Running, Trail Running on May 23, 2010 by ultrarunnerbrianphilpot

Hit the trail’s today to stretch the body out from yesterday’s run in Mohican. We got the heat today the bad part is we have had so many day’s of rain it got humid. So as I hammer the muddy trail’s out of Pine Lane trail head it was like running in the rain! Out of my 14 mile’s today, the only dry spot was crossing road’s and a little spot of the bike path. A good run, just another day of dealing with fast weather change’s and alot of mudd!

Mohican 100 Training Run

Went down to Mohican Memorial State Forest to hammer some training mile’s for the North Face Mohican 100. But again, we have been getting nothing but rain! So the horse trail’s are all ankle deep MUD! I really hope for a dry race day! Only 27 day’s till race day. If we go into a wet race, I will have a slow time. I got a good 30 mile’s in today. A great run, until I ran out of water. At least I will have aid station’s on race day! I really wanted more mile’s but running out water and running in mud just beat we up! So I took the long drive home.
Hope everyone’s weekend is going good and dry!

Sunny Sunday Run

Posted in Running, Trail Running, Ultrarunning on May 16, 2010 by ultrarunnerbrianphilpot

It’s a nice sunny Sunday, a little cool mid 60’s. Nice for running, but I need heat! My two ultramarathon’s are summer run’s, and that mean’s heat! After 31 mile’s of muddy trail’s yesterday, I hit the hike/bike path today! No mud, but hard packed dirt and paved road. At least dry feet, easy 10 mile’s in 1:15. After running a some what technical trail, and throw in mud you have hour’s of tough technical trail’s. I fell a few time’s in the swamp, it’s allways muddy. But yesterday the water was high and you couldn’t see the root’s when you are hauling ass though it! And I’m not going to walk! A lot of work, but so much fun! I wish I had pics, but I have killed too many things on the trail’s.

The Word Of The Day MUD!

Posted in Running, Trail Running, Ultrarunning on May 15, 2010 by ultrarunnerbrianphilpot

I had a ultrarun of 40 to 50 mile’s for the day. It was a great day weather wise 67, and sunny. We have been getting a lot of rain, through the week. I started all was good, I felt good. Then the MUD started, it still wasn’t to bad. Then it just started to get bad. Deep ankle, shoe sucking mud. Just grabbing on to my shoe’s and not letting go. I just pushed on. I had out and back’s worked out to hit the mile’s I was set up, the big out and back was 31 mile’s. The big out and back came first, and I was so done with wet shoe’s and mud I called it a day. Still felt good after, just covered in mud. Sunday we will make up for lost mile’s!
Have a great weekend!

Go Boston Celtics! No Ring for the King!

It’s so hard to be far away from what I still call home, Boston Mass. I do support my new home Cleveland/Akron Ohio. But Boston will still come first, I have been through alot, with Boston sport’s. Ever since a little kid, and watching the Boston Red Sox lose game after game after game!

Last night’s game was a big one, for the Cleveland Cavalier’s and Lebron James. King James what a over played joke! Lebron is just not in the the NBA game right now! So much talk about Lebron James moving to the New York Nicks! We will see, his season’s over. It is fun being the Boston fan in Cleveland! Lebron James really had turned into a big baby, I was hear in Cleveland when he started, he was a much different basketball player then. He could keep his cool! I’m behind enemy line’s today, and yes I will brag! Because I stick by Boston and allways will, it’s home.

Anyway hope everyone has a great weekend! It will be a hardcore weekend of running for me, Big mile’s!
Have a great weekend!
