After braking my foot at work last fall and a winter of no running I’m back! Right now everything is going great, I feel strong and my running is going good. In my go hard or go home way’s I have joined the Burning River 100 Endurance Run for the end of July. I think I can be ready enough to have a good slow fun day! In sept I will join the Akron Marathon to try for the Boston Marathon next spring, I way not be fast enough but I want to give it a shot before I get any older! I will hit 40 this summer, my baby girls show how old I am as they enter their teens! We just don’t get any younger. I hope everyone is doing great with their running and life, see you on the trails!

The New Year 2011

Posted in Running, Trail Running, Ultrarunning on December 27, 2010 by ultrarunnerbrianphilpot

As the New Year is coming I need too get my Head out my @$$ and plan my 2011 ultrarun season. The Mohican 100 really is really a must do. Last year was great, At 28 hours in 90+ temps and lots of mud, hills, and rocks what better for a trail race! Burning River 100 is a fast race, I need to slow down on that race! 2 dnf’s for pumping out to fast! Stay out on the front of the pack dumb ass your not that good on roads! That is the only thing I don’t like about the BR100 too many roads! But I can crank them just the same, I just run them too fast! So as of right now I really just need the cash!!! Darn child support is going to go up, gotta love the ex-wife! Get your plans together the new year is coming!

It’s been too long

Well let’s see, the busted up foot is getting better. I made this healing time my off season to make sure that everything heals up nice! Just not good when you drop a 100 pound object on the top middle part of your foot! But it did give me time too enjoy driving the new Camaro! I also really need to get a new computer but I will only get the new MacBook Pro and just too much $$ right now! Hope everyone is doing good with life and running! Alot more soon!

No more racing this year

Posted in Running, Trail Running, Ultrarunning on September 9, 2010 by ultrarunnerbrianphilpot

I will not run Oil Creek 100 this year. I will take it easy with my ankle. I will just enjoy fall and winter trail running, and get ready for next year’s racing! I have one good Mohican 100 finish and one Burning River 100 DNF at 71 miles. I have alot of miles is summer from training and racing. So look forward to next year of racing and meeting great runners!

Getting Back What Was Lost

It has been a while since my last run. A hard fall off a trailer at work made a bad ankle even more. It’s starting to feel better, but we will see. I’m still standing strong on doing Oil Creek 100! I don’t want to give in till I see where I stand after a few weeks of running. I only have about 6 weeks till the race, just have to put in a good fight. Have a great week!

Utrarunning Magazine is Uplifting

Posted in Running, Trail Running, Ultrarunning on August 6, 2010 by ultrarunnerbrianphilpot

That’s right! I needed a little something to make me look up, as a long week has come to an end. The new Ultrarunning Magazine came in the mail today. I allways love to read about the races and pictures of the trails runners are running on. But this time I’m looking at the Mohican 100 that I finished 28:47:40 37th place! That’s uplifting after last weekends poor DNF at 73 miles in 19:35 hours at the Burning River 100.
But life goes on, and I can’t sit around and cry about it! Races and Better days are allways around the corner, but you have to get up and get going! And for me that means Oil Creek 100 this fall. I had a good few days off after the BR100 but then a long few days of work, driving around Cleveland loading and unloading my truck for 10 hour days. It’s rough when your whole body is sore. I hope everyone has a great weekend, I hope to get in some run’s in!

More Time To Train

Posted in Running, Trail Running, Ultrarunning on August 4, 2010 by ultrarunnerbrianphilpot

As I come from a DNF of the Burning River 100 and everything that went wrong and right in the race has come to light. Going out too fast, 2 100 mile races close together, and the biggest is my training! I’m overall happy, I’m pushing myself too my limits! And I’m getting better. My training just needs to be more hardcore and now it will start. One DNF will fuel my training going to Oil Creek 100. The BR100 went from a cramp too much pain after 50 miles, pushing too hard will do that. The cramp is from starting out to fast, and that was done because in the Mohican 100 I lost a lot of time on the single path trails from very slow runners. But I don’t like to place blame on anyone or anything because we will overlook the real problems! If someone blames the heat the hole time the problem wasn’t the heat.
But anyway I sit think and recover, feeling great. Can’t wait to start my next stage of training and yes it will be more Hardcore. I even going to try a new pair of trail shoe’s, very important part of training and racing! I don’t race like most these days, I don’t have drop bags all over, with gear for six races! I have a Minimalist approach to trail running and racing. My only drop bag has change of socks, long sleave shirt, extra flash light, and a protein bar. But some people need more and they should have what they feel they need. Something is really wrong with leaving comments on blogger with open I D, keep getting errors and it seems to happen to a lot of people!
Have a great week! And

BR 100 DNF’d

Posted in Running, Trail Running, Ultrarunning on August 1, 2010 by ultrarunnerbrianphilpot

Got out for the second time to run the Burning River 100 and for the second time I DNF’s! I must just be pushing to fast, a race I train on in my back yard and it eat’s me up. It was a great day! Great aid station’s with awsome workers! Alot of great runners. I really had a great time, but I just couldn’t keep my legs together and at mile 74 I called it a day ( a great day for pain ). I went out a little fast and I backed off fast but I new at mile 25 it just wasn’t going to be my day, but I don’t give till I know my legs just can’t do anymore (and that I will have many great days of pain after). I should say my feet, it is always my feet and ankles, so with that it’s time to go trail shoe shopping!
Hope everyone has a great weekend and week I will kick my legs up and recover for the next 100 mile run!

Running 2 100’s Close Together

Posted in Running, Trail Running, Ultrarunning on July 23, 2010 by ultrarunnerbrianphilpot

It really is hard to go from one hundred mile run to another in just less 6 weeks. You have to recover from one race, the Mohican 100 that was hotter than hell! Then taper for the next hundred mile run, the Burning River 100 July 31 and will be hot! So you can see that it really doesn’t leave much time for training. Nevermind that it’s been hot at work, and just working my ball’s off too! And that’s why I have 0% body fat! Running, work, and kids keep me none stop. I will get out and Slam some good runs this weekend to tone up for next weekends race! Hope everyone can get out and Enjoy the summer this weekend!

I Play Cheerleader For BT50k

Posted in Running, Trail Running, Ultrarunning on July 17, 2010 by ultrarunnerbrianphilpot

That’s right I play the role of cheerleader for the Buckeye Trail 50k race. I was at Snowville road aid station to watch the race, it was a nice hot race. The heat was getting to the runners, but most did very good. It was nice to take it easy and watch. Two weeks to my race, The Burning River 100 Mile Endurance Run. We will try again for a sub 24 hour finish, I didn’t get it at Mohican 100 just 4 week’s ago, but I did have to recover in time for BR100. This summer is really working up as a Hot one, making all runs a hard workout! Congats to all runners and a big thanks to aid station workers of the BT 50k, it’s what racing is all about! Hope everyone is having a great weekend, get outside and have some fun and…..
